Bocce Tournament

Did they really play in the monsoon-like conditions? Yes they did and it was a BLAST!  Just look at all the smiling faces on the picture board.

Congratulations to Mary Beth and Tim Spillane as champions at this year’s GHCA Bocce tournament.  A very respectful second place was awarded to Lisa and Jim Murphy, perennial winners on the GHCA Bocce tour.

We had a full field of 16 teams brave the conditions and carry on to the end.  As usual, the matches were tight and exciting with every throw of the ball followed by Ooo’s and Ahhh’s from the crowd.  The spectator gallery was either amazed by the finesse of the players or they were reacting to the deluge of water during the final match of the day.  I think it was the former.

As the Bocce court started to fill with water, our first-ever FOOD TRUCK arrived.  The match continued until the winners were crowned.  We had a quick ceremony on awarding prizes (I mean really quick) as stomachs were growling at the nice smells coming from Rah, Rah’s food truck and everyone bolted for the award-winning food.

Thank you to all that played, watched, helped, and braved the elements on yet another successful Bocce Tournament at GHCA.  We look forward to the rest of the summer events and next year’s tournament!!
